Pen & Ink

Most of the pieces that you'll see are self-portraits, made with detailed stippling using pen and ink on paper. I draw inspiration heavily from my life- from personal struggles to comedic instances. A majority of them are inspired from working at a healthcare center for senior residents needing long-term care, where I act as an Activities Assistant, planning, coordinating, and hosting events for the senior residents to get out of their rooms and have some fun.

Title: "Saleswoman" (2025)

Style: 14"x 11" | Pen on Paper

Inspiration: Part of being an Activities Assistant at a healthcare residency is managing the shop. Our residents love BINGO night and when they win, they get shop money to spend on some prizes.

Title: "Oh Well" (2025)

Style: 14"x 11" | Pen on Paper

Inspiration: Every day, our residents get thrilled for their favorite activity, and I am lost to drift among the B7s and the G29s. Is this what life has come to? I fade away into the bittersweet deathbed of the BINGO cards.

Title: "Clear Your Cards" (2025)

Style: 11"x 11" | Pen on Paper

Inspiration: One of the difficulties of working in healthcare as a soft-spoken person is being heard. This is especially the case at BINGO night, where the senior residents are eagerly listening to hear if they won. It's often been joked that I should have a megaphone. Inscribed on the chips are the common responses I get from the residents whenever I speak at BINGO. The eyes in the background are representative of the blank (and sometimes frustrated) stares that I get from the residents when they can't hear me.

Title: "Comin' Round The Corner" (2025)

Style: 11"x 10" | Pen on Paper

Inspiration: This piece was inspired by one of my favorite residents, who always yells, "Comin' round the corner," whenever I turn the corner to take her back to her room.

Title: "See You Later… Alligator!" (2025)

Style: 14"x 11" | Pen on Paper

Inspiration: One of the activities at the healthcare center includes taking the senior residents out to the water to spend time outside and in the sunlight. I've never seen THE (single) alligator that we're always warned about, and in this piece, I wanted to create a comedic exaggeration of this seemingly fictional creature we're always warned about.

Title: "Canned" (2025)

Style: 14"x 11" | Pen on Paper

Inspiration: I... love... SPAM. That's it!

Title: "Excuse Me, I Have Eczema" (2025)

Style: 14"x 11" | Pen on Paper

Inspiration: As stated in the title and shown in the piece itself, I have been dealing with Eczema for many years. It comes and goes in waves, flaring up depending on weather or stress. I was itchy when I drew this.

Title: "Splitting Me Mitosis"

Style: 24" x 32" Charcoal & Ink on Paper

Inspiration: Kaleidoscope and claustrophobia meet in this cosmic presence-themed piece. In the background, there are a variety of crabs, which represent not letting go and holding on- an invasion of much needed space. Sometimes, what is suffocating us the most isn't a cramped space but a need to get away from our own selves.
